We’re Here and Ready to Go!

Image

The whole group is now ready to go! Most of us at at the beautiful Carlton Hotel tonight (the same hotel in which we’ll spend our final night in 10 days time). Situated right on the Mediterranean at the north end of Tel Aviv, the hotel allowed everyone perfect access to the excitement of Tel Aviv for the day. Most of us spent the day unwinding after our flights, getting a bite to eat at one of the seaside cafes and strolling the excellent shopping of this most modern of Israeli towns. Whether on Dizengoff, in the newly upscale Neve Tzedek or even down to Jaffa, it was a day to explore on our own. Now its time for a good nights sleep before we meet up at 10 AM tomorrow (Tuesday) to head toward the Negev and the start of our trip!

Wheels Up!

We’re heading to Israel! By Sunday night nearly our whole group will be en route to Israel to begin our journey together. At 10 AM in Tuesday we’ll all board our bus and head down toward the Negev, toward the places where the Bible teaches that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob first entered a covenant with God and where Moses led the people into the Land of Israel after hundreds if years as slaves in Egypt. More on that as we visit the sites where it all happened. For now… Time to get excited!

Lifnei B’reishit – Before the Beginning

In just about month we’ll head off for the Israel trip of a lifetime!

Our group is made up of travelers who have been to Israel numerous times and those who have never been before. We’re going for different reasons and with different expectations. We’re traveling to explore a land that is at once a homeland and a foreign country.

Our Goal: Understand the Jewish connection to the Land, People and State of Israel. We’ll explore that connection historically and spiritually. We’ll follow the major historical events of the Land of Israel by visiting the sites of those events while studying our ancient texts. At the same time, we’ll confront the very real issues that Israel faces today: security, diversity, environmental, economic, artistic and culinary. We will leave our journey together understanding both the historic and contemporary reality of the Land of Israel.

We invite you to follow our journey on this blog, to see what we see, to read about our experiences. to connect – if only virtually – to this great land.
